Islamabad Housing Dues Case: Court Issues Warrants Against 16 Societies

Islamabad housing dues worth Rs1.8 billion triggered legal action after a local court issued arrest warrants for operators of 16 housing societies. Senior Special Magistrate Sardar Mohammad Asif ordered the concerned Station House Officers to arrest the accused and present them before the court on May 14. The case emerged after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) reported unpaid extension and commercialization charges.
Officials said the CDA Housing Directorate referred the matter to court after repeated notices failed to recover the pending amount. According to court officials, authorities completed all legal formalities before issuing the warrants. In addition, the court gave the housing societies enough time to settle their dues.

CDA Targets Defaulting Housing Societies

The societies named in the case include Bahria Town, Al Hamra Avenue Housing Scheme, Gulberg Residencia Housing Scheme, River Garden, Soan Garden and several others. Authorities also included the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Housing Scheme and the Ministry of Interior Housing Scheme in the case.
A court official explained that the warrants mainly targeted individuals handling financial affairs of the housing projects. Therefore, finance managers and administrative officials may face arrest instead of property owners. The official also clarified that the CDA primarily wants to recover the pending payments.

Crackdown on Illegal Housing Projects Continues

Meanwhile, the CDA has intensified its crackdown on illegal and defaulting housing societies in Islamabad. Recently, the authority issued a public notice identifying 99 illegal housing projects operating in the capital. Officials urged citizens to avoid investing in unauthorised schemes to prevent financial losses.
Furthermore, the latest court action highlights growing pressure on housing societies to follow regulations and clear outstanding dues. Authorities believe strict enforcement will improve transparency in the real estate sector. As a result, investors may gain greater confidence in approved housing projects across Islamabad.
