Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has teased what appears to be horror-themed DLC, hinting that Tokyo Game Show 2025 will play host to its reveal. The official Stellar Blade Twitter posted a haunting image captioned “In one week…,” sparking widespread speculation.
The teaser depicts a dilapidated corridor, bathed in ominous orange light, with broken boards, cracked walls, dangling wires, and a faint glow at the end. This imagery marks a sharp contrast from Stellar Blade’s futuristic post-apocalyptic cityscapes, instead channeling vibes closer to Silent Hill or Resident Evil. The tonal shift suggests Shift Up may experiment with slower, more atmospheric gameplay in place of its usual fast-paced action.
Stellar Blade originally launched on PS5 in April 2024 before arriving on PC in June 2025, where it quickly became Sony’s most successful third-party single-player Steam release. Since launch, Shift Up has expanded the game with crossover DLCs like Nier Automata and Goddess of Victory Nikke, showing a willingness to explore diverse styles and partnerships.
Now, the studio appears to be testing darker territory. Speculation includes theories of a limited-time Halloween event, a one-off horror mission, or even a crossover with Silent Hill f, given its imminent release. Fans are debating whether the content will be permanent DLC, a short seasonal update, or part of a larger expansion roadmap.
The studio has already confirmed a sequel in development, expected in the late 2020s, and this teaser could act as groundwork for its direction. Stellar Blade’s monster designs already lend themselves to horror, so expanding into psychological or survival horror elements would be a logical experiment.
With TGS 2025 set for September 25–28, fans won’t have to wait long. Whether seasonal or standalone, the reveal could redefine perceptions of Stellar Blade’s creative potential.
