PTCL Internet Disruptions Expected From May 11 to 18

PTCL Internet Disruptions may affect users across Pakistan during the coming days. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd announced that customers could experience slower internet services because of planned submarine cable maintenance work. The company shared the update on Sunday through its official X account.
According to PTCL, the International Cable Consortium will repair a fault in one of the company’s submarine cables. The maintenance work will start on May 11 and continue until May 18, 2026. During this period, users may experience internet slowdowns, especially during evening hours.
The telecom company advised customers about possible service degradation in advance. However, many internet users have already expressed concern online over potential connectivity issues during the maintenance period.

Submarine Cable Faults Continue To Affect Services

PTCL manages three undersea optical fiber cable systems that connect Pakistan with international internet networks. These submarine cables play a major role in maintaining stable internet services across the country.
However, faults in submarine cables frequently disrupt internet connectivity in Pakistan. Technical problems and repair work often slow internet speeds and affect online services nationwide. As a result, users regularly face difficulties during peak usage hours.
In addition, businesses, students, and remote workers often struggle when internet services become unstable. Many people now depend heavily on digital platforms for communication, work, and education.

Internet Users Voice Concerns Online

Following PTCL’s announcement, many users shared concerns on social media platforms. Some feared that slower internet speeds could disrupt online meetings, streaming services, and daily digital activities.
The issue also highlights Pakistan’s ongoing internet infrastructure challenges. According to a report by Top10VPN.com, Pakistan recorded the world’s highest financial losses from internet and social media shutdowns in 2023.
Meanwhile, PTCL has urged customers to remain patient during the maintenance process. The company expects services to return to normal once the repair work concludes next week.
