Officials said encroachers had built temporary and permanent structures across several plots in the area.
During the operation, enforcement teams faced strong resistance from unidentified individuals. According to officials, some people threw stones at workers and police officers. In addition, suspects allegedly opened aerial firing, which created fear and panic among nearby residents. Therefore, authorities immediately called additional police personnel to control the situation and support the operation teams.
Despite the unrest, KDA teams continued demolition work throughout the day. Officials stated that they reclaimed more than 25 acres of land during the first phase of the campaign. Crews demolished illegal structures, boundary walls, and several booking offices operating on disputed land. Authorities also cleared roads and open spaces occupied during recent years.
Officials Promise Strict Action
KDA Director General Asif Jan Siddiqui said authorities would continue operations without discrimination. He stressed that no individual or group could illegally occupy KDA land. Furthermore, he warned land grabbers against resisting government action during future operations.
Officials explained that the campaign followed decisions taken during a recent meeting chaired by Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah. As a result, departments increased coordination to speed up anti-encroachment activities across Karachi.
Residents React to Operation
citizens welcomed the recovery of public land and demanded stricter monitoring in affected areas. However, some residents expressed concern about violence during future drives.
Police remained deployed in the area after the clashes. Meanwhile, KDA officials confirmed that similar operations would continue in other parts of Karachi to protect valuable state land and improve urban management.
