Train Blast in Pakistan Kills 20 Military Personnel
At least 20 people have been killed in an explosion targeting a train.
A Deadly Explosion
The blast killed military personnel. Seventy others were injured. The attack happened in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s western Balochistan region. It occurred on Sunday morning.
The train was travelling through Chaman Phatak station. Railway officials told BBC Urdu that three coaches and the engine were derailed. Two coaches overturned. The shuttle service was mainly transporting service personnel and their families. They were returning home for Eid.
Separatist Group Claims Responsibility
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) separatist group claimed responsibility for the attack. It said it was a suicide bombing. Pakistani officials have not yet confirmed this. The attack is one of the deadliest in the region this year.
