Bethesda Softworks has released a major new update for Fallout 76 titled Infestations, bringing a wide range of gameplay changes, new content, and technical improvements to the long-running online RPG. The update introduces new enemies, seasonal content, weapon adjustments, and major system overhauls aimed at improving balance and long-term progression.
Alongside these gameplay updates, Bethesda has also confirmed early testing for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of Fallout 76. This marks a significant technical step forward for the game as it prepares for next-generation optimization later this year.

The Fallout 76 Infestations update introduces Season 25: Appalachia Under Siege, where players can complete challenges to earn rewards tied to a post-nuclear survival theme. The update also adds new seasonal fish, crafting recipes, and environmental activities designed to expand exploration and resource gathering.
A new C.A.M.P. pet system has also been introduced, allowing players to unlock and customize creatures such as the Deathclaw companion. These additions further expand gameplay systems while offering new long-term progression goals.
Next-Gen Testing Begins On PS5 And Xbox
Bethesda has confirmed public testing for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of Fallout 76 Infestations, allowing players to experience improved performance ahead of the full upgrade. Planned enhancements include targeted 60 FPS gameplay, improved draw distances, better shadows, and 4K resolution support on compatible systems.
These upgrades aim to modernize technical performance while maintaining its existing online structure. Once testing is complete, the full update is expected to launch later in the summer.

The update also includes extensive gameplay balancing, including changes to radiation resistance, enemy behavior, weapon mods, and perk systems. These adjustments aim to refine combat mechanics and improve overall game balance across different playstyles.
