Hijrah Offers Lessons for Modern Times
The prime minister said it was encouraging that the Hijri New Year began with reports of a peaceful resolution of tensions involving Iran and the United States. He added that Pakistan had played a sincere role in promoting peace through dialogue and diplomacy. According to him, such efforts reflect the teachings of Islam and the example set by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Highlighting the significance of the Islamic calendar, Mr. Sharif said the new year serves as a reminder of the Hijrah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He noted that the migration laid the foundation for an Islamic society built on justice, equality, brotherhood, and service to humanity.
The prime minister said the Hijrah continues to offer valuable lessons. These lessons include sacrifice, discipline, trust, and collective responsibility. As a result, he believes many modern challenges can be addressed by following these principles.
Tribute to Imam Hussain (RA)
Referring to Muharram-ul-Haram, Mr. Sharif paid tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their sacrifices in the Battle of Karbala. He described their stand against oppression as a lasting source of inspiration for Muslims around the world.
The prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for oppressed communities, particularly in Palestine and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, he urged citizens to uphold honesty, hard work, tolerance, and national unity.
