Impact Departs Team Liquid After Disappointing 2025 Season
Team Liquid has officially announced the departure of Korean veteran top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, marking the end of his second stint with the organization. The news came with a heartfelt farewell video in which Impact opened up about his struggles throughout the year, both inside and outside of the game.
Reflecting on the season, Impact admitted that 2024 had been a year where he felt confident in his decisions and contributions. However, 2025 told a different story. “I think what I did last year was good. I was confident in what I wanted to do, decision-making, and everything. But this year, I didn’t do my job very well,” he said.
The veteran also shared personal difficulties that weighed heavily on him. Following a breakup with his long-term girlfriend and Team Liquid’s lackluster performance, he admitted to losing passion for the game. “My problem is that I cannot control my emotions too much because I’m kind of an honest guy,” Impact noted. These challenges left him drained and questioning his future.
For now, Impact plans to step away briefly, traveling and reflecting before making decisions about his next career move. Still, he emphasized that he will continue practicing, scrimming, and staying ready for opportunities: “If I can’t find a new team, I’ll still do my best.”

Impact’s competitive career began in 2012, highlighted by his World Championship victory with SK Telecom T1 in 2013 alongside Faker. After moving to North America in 2015, he became one of the region’s most successful imports, collecting six domestic titles and an MVP award with Team Liquid.
As Liquid looks ahead to 2026, roster changes are expected. With CoreJJ’s contract expiring soon, and APA, Yuuji, and Yeon still signed, the offseason promises to be pivotal.
