Attack On Titan Officially Returns With Ambitious New Game

Attack On Titan Officially Returns With Ambitious New Game

Attack on Titan fans finally have something new to look forward to. After several years without major new content following the conclusion of the manga and anime, Koei Tecmo has officially announced Attack on Titan 3, the next entry in the popular video game series.

The reveal took place during Summer Game Fest 2026 and immediately generated excitement among longtime fans. While many expected a straightforward adaptation of the anime’s later story arcs, the upcoming game appears to be taking a much more ambitious approach. As a result, Attack on Titan 3 could become the biggest and most comprehensive game based on the franchise to date.

Attack On Titan 3 Retells The Entire Story

Despite being a direct sequel to 2018’s Attack on Titan 2, the new game will reportedly revisit the entire manga storyline from beginning to end. However, players will not control Eren Yeager as the main protagonist. Instead, Attack on Titan 3 introduces a fully customizable original character who joins the Survey Corps and experiences the major events of the story firsthand.

This approach allows players to participate in iconic battles while interacting with legendary characters throughout the series. Consequently, fans can experience familiar moments from an entirely new perspective. The game will also feature encounters with all Nine Titans, creating what could be the most complete Attack on Titan adaptation ever released.

More Information Arrives In July

Although Koei Tecmo has not announced a release date, the developer confirmed that additional details will be revealed on July 1, 2026. Fans are expecting a deeper gameplay showcase alongside new information regarding combat systems, progression mechanics, and story content. In addition, many players hope to learn how the custom protagonist fits into the established narrative.

Because marketing has only recently begun, many expect the game to launch sometime in 2027 rather than later this year. Nevertheless, excitement remains high as fans eagerly await the next major reveal.

Attack On Titan Continues Beyond The Anime

Following the anime’s conclusion in 2023, many fans questioned what the future held for the franchise. While spin-offs and smaller projects remained possible, there had been little indication of a major new release. Now, Attack on Titan 3 proves the series still has life beyond its original manga and anime adaptations.

If Koei Tecmo successfully delivers on its ambitious vision, the game could become one of the largest anime game releases in recent years. Furthermore, its unique perspective on the story may provide both newcomers and longtime fans with fresh reasons to revisit the world of Attack on Titan. For now, fans should mark July 1 on their calendars as the next major update on Attack on Titan 3 approaches.
