Karachi Muharram Traffic Plan Announced for Ashura Processions

The Karachi Traffic Police have unveiled a comprehensive Karachi Muharram Traffic plan for the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram. The plan aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and strengthen security during the Ashura processions. Authorities have advised citizens to follow traffic instructions and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
According to the traffic police, the main procession will begin from Nishtar Park on all three days. It will travel along its traditional route and conclude at Hussainiya Iranian Imambargah. To maintain security, authorities will close several roads and divert traffic away from the procession route.

Major Road Closures and Diversions

As part of the Karachi Muharram Traffic arrangements, M.A. Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower. Therefore, commuters will need to use alternative routes throughout the procession period.
People travelling from Nazimabad can use Lasbela Chowk, Nishtar Road, and Garden. Likewise, motorists coming from Liaquatabad can travel through Teen Hatti and Lasbela Chowk before heading towards

Central Jail and Martin Road.

On the 9th of Muharram, authorities will close the road from Guru Mandir towards Liaquatabad between 8:30am and 9:30am. Drivers travelling from Hassan Square and P.P. Chowrangi should use Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, and Shahrah-e-Qaideen. In addition, Jamshed Road from Guru Mandir to Bahadur Yar Jang Road will remain closed from 10:30am to 1:30pm.

Special Instructions for Commuters

The traffic police have also announced separate arrangements for heavy commercial vehicles. Trucks arriving from the Super Highway and Gulberg will follow designated diversion routes through Liaquatabad No.10, Nazimabad, Sher Shah, and Maripur.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles entering Karachi from the National Highway can travel through Shahrah-e-Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, and Hassan Square before joining the approved route. Authorities have also banned parking along the procession route.
Furthermore, only vehicles carrying official procession stickers will receive access to M.A. Jinnah Road. Vehicles transporting food and drinks for distribution during the processions may enter through Saddar

Dawakhana and Capri Light Signal.

Officials have urged citizens to plan their journeys in advance. As a result, commuters can avoid unnecessary delays and help ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram across Karachi.
