KE Ensures Ashura Power Supply, Exempts 371 Karachi Feeders from Load Shedding

K-Electric (KE) has announced special measures to ensure uninterrupted Ashura Power Supply across key areas of Karachi during 9th and 10th Muharram. The utility will suspend load shedding in selected locations to facilitate processions, majalis, and other religious activities. As a result, residents in priority areas will experience a more reliable electricity supply during the observance of Ashura.
According to KE, authorities have identified 371 feeders as high-priority feeders across the city. These feeders serve areas where major processions, gatherings, and religious events will take place. Therefore, KE has adjusted its load management plan to support smooth and peaceful observances.

371 Feeders Exempt from Load Shedding

KE stated that 244 medium and high-loss feeders would normally face scheduled load shedding. However, the utility will exempt these feeders from power outages from the evening of 8th Muharram until the morning of 11th Muharram.
The company worked closely with government departments, law enforcement agencies, and local authorities before finalizing the arrangements. This coordination helped identify important procession routes and congregation points across Karachi. In addition, KE reviewed its network operations to reduce the risk of disruptions during religious events.
The utility has directed its operational teams to remain on high alert throughout the Ashura period. Furthermore, KE has deployed additional technical staff and resources to respond quickly to network faults or emergencies. These measures aim to ensure a stable electricity supply in sensitive areas.

KE Extends Bill Payment Deadline

KE has also announced relief for customers during the Ashura holidays. Electricity bills with due dates of June 25 and June 26, 2026, can now be paid by June 29 without any late payment surcharge.
The company has informed all scheduled banks and authorized payment collection centers about the revised deadline. Consequently, customers can make payments without facing extra charges.
KE also urged citizens to stay safe around electrical infrastructure. The utility advised mourners and the public to avoid contact with overhead power lines and maintain a safe distance from electrical installations during Ashura activities.
