Islamabad Safari Park Planned as Pakistan’s First World-Class Wildlife Destination

Islamabad Safari Park Planned as Pakistan’s First World-Class Wildlife Destination

The Islamabad Safari Park is set to become Pakistan’s first world-class wildlife safari destination under a new plan announced by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The project will cover around 350 acres in Malpur Forestry Park near Bara Kahu and Murree Road. Officials say the development will promote wildlife conservation, eco-tourism, and family recreation while protecting the area’s natural environment.

Wildlife Conservation Meets Eco-Tourism

The CDA selected natural forest land for the safari park and pledged to preserve the existing ecosystem. Officials said the project will protect wildlife habitats and avoid environmental damage during construction. Meanwhile, the authority has completed the feasibility study and conceptual design. It will now begin the tendering process.
The master plan includes about 3,605 animals across 10 safari and wildlife sanctuary zones. The largest section will cover 1,000 kanals and feature ungulates in a natural setting. Visitors will enjoy guided safari tours, wildlife viewing areas, nature trails, and a glass soft-wheel train.
Another 180-kanal zone will house lions, tigers, bears, hyenas, and African wild dogs. In addition, separate wildlife sanctuaries will provide space for crocodiles, rhinos, elephants, and hippos. The project will also include a Wildlife Care Complex with modern veterinary, treatment, and quarantine facilities to support animal welfare.

Modern Attractions for Visitors

The Islamabad Safari Park will offer several attractions for families and tourists. A Safari Pavilion will provide ticketing and visitor information. Moreover, a 400-kanal Safari Village will include safari lodges, restaurants, and recreational spaces.
A themed food street connected to Murree Road will feature several dining options. The central landscape will also include a digital immersive museum, jungle play area, koi fish pond, sitting areas, and a zipline adventure.
Furthermore, visitors can explore a one-kilometre Forest Canopy Walk for panoramic forest views. The project also includes a natural lake, bridge walks, safari tours, and a two-kilometre chairlift track. As a result, CDA expects the development to make Islamabad a leading wildlife tourism destination while encouraging biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness across Pakistan.
