Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 Adds New Knockout Tour Routes and Photo Mode Stickers

Nintendo has officially released Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2, introducing fresh content for players to enjoy. The free update adds two brand-new Knockout Tour routes, expands Photo Mode with customizable stickers, and continues Nintendo’s support for the racing game with future updates. The latest patch is available to download now and offers new challenges for both competitive racers and creative players.

Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 Expands Knockout Tour

The biggest addition in Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 is the arrival of two new Knockout Tour routes: Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally. Knockout Tour is one of the game’s signature modes, where players race across long courses while avoiding elimination by maintaining a high position throughout each stage.
Drill Rally begins at Wario Shipyard and takes racers through a series of obstacles before reaching Bowser’s Castle. Meanwhile, Boomerang Rally starts at Salty Salty Speedway and ends at Whistlestop Summit, offering another lengthy course filled with hazards and intense competition.
However, players must first complete at least one existing Knockout Tour rally before they can access these new routes. Nintendo has also confirmed that it will add more Knockout Tour courses in future updates, giving players even more content to anticipate.

Photo Mode Gets New Creative Features

Update 1.7.0 also enhances Photo Mode by letting players decorate their screenshots with stickers collected during gameplay. In addition, players can combine these stickers with decorative frames to create personalized images featuring their favorite racers and memorable moments.
Players can freely position stickers using either the Nintendo Switch 2’s Joy-Con mouse controls or standard touch controls, making the editing process simple and intuitive. As a result, the new customization tools offer even more creative freedom for players who enjoy capturing and sharing their best Mario Kart moments.
Installing Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 is straightforward. First, connect the Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet. Next, highlight the game on the HOME Menu, press the + or − button, select Software Update, and choose Via the Internet. Once the update is installed, all of the new content becomes immediately available. With new races, expanded photo customization, and additional updates already planned, Mario Kart World Update 1.7.0 continues Nintendo’s support for one of the Nintendo Switch 2’s biggest racing titles.
