Jhelum Job Centre to Boost Youth Employment with Co-Working Space

Pakistan is set to launch the Jhelum job center, a first-of-its-kind facility designed to support skilled unemployed youth. The center will combine employment services with a modern co-working space. It will help job seekers connect with employers while offering affordable workstations for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and startups. In addition, the initiative aims to strengthen local employment and encourage innovation. The project will also reduce financial barriers for young professionals who cannot afford expensive office space or business infrastructure.

Job Center to Support Skilled Youth and Freelancers

The proposal was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiyani in Jhelum on Tuesday. Representatives from partner organizations and the district administration attended the session. They discussed the project’s progress and future roadmap. According to the minister, the initiative will create new opportunities for young people while supporting the district’s growing freelance and startup community.
The Jhelum job centre will provide a centralized platform where employers can connect with skilled candidates. It will also offer shared workstations, internet access, meeting rooms, and professional office facilities. As a result, freelancers and entrepreneurs will have access to a productive work environment without paying high rental costs. Furthermore, the centre will encourage collaboration, networking, and knowledge sharing among professionals. Minister Bilal Azhar Kiyani said the project could become a successful model for other cities across Pakistan.

Private Sector Collaboration to Deliver Modern Facility

The minister said the project is being developed through private sector partnerships instead of public funding. Pakistan Tobacco Company, Al-Suffa, and Colab have already started preparatory work for the initiative. They have pledged technical expertise and operational support to establish a modern facility that meets international standards. Their collaboration will ensure efficient management and quality services for users.
Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Reza Ozgen assured participants that the district administration would provide full administrative support. He said officials would facilitate the project’s timely completion and smooth operation. Once launched, the Jhelum job center is expected to create jobs, promote entrepreneurship, strengthen professional networking, and contribute to sustainable economic growth in the region.
