Typhoon Bavi Landfall China: Landslides Kill 17

Typhoon Bavi Landfall China: A Widespread Threat

Typhoon Bavi landfall China has triggered massive disruptions. The storm first came ashore in Taizhou on Saturday evening. It then made a second landfall in Wenzhou around midnight. This powerful typhoon spans 1,000 kilometers at its widest point. The system measures roughly the width of France.

The Storm’s Path

Bavi previously pummeled a chain of remote Japanese islands. It brought heavy rainfall to Taiwan’s northern tip. The storm brushed past the island with intense downpours. Earlier landslides triggered by the storm killed at least 17 people in the Philippines.
The storm has now moved into eastern China. Officials warned of severe flooding and mudslides. The rain bands carry enormous moisture volumes. Therefore, the situation remains extremely dangerous.

Landfall and Impact

The first landfall occurred in the coastal city of Taizhou. The second strike hit Wenzhou around midnight local time. Both cities experienced powerful winds and torrential rain. Local authorities have activated emergency response plans.
Forecasters predict the storm will continue inland. It will bring heavy rain to Zhejiang province. Neighboring Fujian province is also at risk. Residents have been advised to stay indoors.
The typhoon has weakened slightly since the landfall. However, it still presents a significant threat. The massive size of the system affects a huge area. Even weaker winds can cause substantial damage.
This storm has already claimed lives across Southeast Asia. The full toll may not be known for days. Recovery efforts are already underway in affected areas. The international community is monitoring the situation closely.
