Karachi Red Line BRT: Sindh to Open University Road Mixed Traffic Lane Soon

The Karachi Red Line BRT project is expected to bring temporary relief to commuters. The Sindh government will open the mixed traffic lane on University Road in the coming days. The move aims to reduce congestion caused by ongoing construction work.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired a meeting to review the project’s progress. Officials briefed him on construction activities and coordination among departments. They said work is moving forward on several sections of the corridor.

Government orders timely completion

Sharjeel Memon called the Red Line BRT a game-changing project for Karachi. He said the government wants to complete the scheme within the scheduled timeframe. Therefore, he directed all departments to meet their deadlines.
He also stressed the need for efficient coordination. According to him, the project will provide modern and environmentally friendly transport facilities. In addition, he said better public transport will improve daily travel for residents across the city.

Murad Ali Shah inspects major projects

Earlier, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah inspected several infrastructure projects during an early-morning visit. He reviewed the Red Line corridor, Shahrah-e-Bhutto, and Pahalwan Goth Road.
The chief minister directed officials to complete all mixed traffic lanes along the Red Line route within two months. However, he asked them to maintain quality and transparency during construction.
Murad Ali Shah inspected the route from Peoples Chowrangi to Safoora Chowrangi. Later, he reviewed rehabilitation work at Pahalwan Goth. He also visited Shahrah-e-Bhutto from the Bheem Pura flyover to Kathore and issued fresh instructions to project teams.
As a result, authorities expect faster progress on Karachi’s major transport projects.
