Bannu Operation: Security Forces Kill 24 Militants in Intelligence Raids

The Bannu operation intensified as Pakistani security forces killed 24 militants during intelligence-based operations in Bannu and nearby areas over the past 24 hours. Security personnel carried out the raids with support from law enforcement agencies. They also recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition during the operations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops engaged militants in several encounters. The military identified the slain militants as members of Fitna al-Khawarij, which it described as an Indian-backed proxy involved in terrorist attacks and the killing of innocent civilians.

Military vows to continue counterterrorism campaign

The ISPR said security forces will continue operations against the perpetrators, facilitators, and planners of the recent Bannu suicide bombing. Officials stressed that the campaign will continue until those responsible face justice. Therefore, intelligence-based and clearance operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative will remain active across the country.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling militant networks and preventing future attacks. In addition, officials said security forces would maintain pressure on terrorist groups through coordinated operations in vulnerable areas.

National leaders praise security forces

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for the successful operation. He said the killing of 24 militants reflected their professionalism, courage, and dedication to protecting the country. Furthermore, he pledged that terrorists and their facilitators would be pursued until their complete elimination.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the troops and described them as the nation’s true heroes. He said intelligence-based operations remain essential for restoring lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, security forces continued Operation Shaban in Balochistan. The Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps Balochistan, and police killed three more militants during the latest operation. As a result, authorities have further intensified nationwide efforts to eliminate terrorism and strengthen national security.
