Pakistan’s Best Broadband Internet Providers Ranked by Ookla

The latest Ookla Speedtest Global Index Report (H1 2025) has once again ranked Pakistan’s top broadband internet service providers, highlighting the growing competition among fiber-based networks in the country.
At the top of the list, PTCL Flash Fiber secured the first position with a Speed Score of 56.95. Close behind, Transworld achieved 56.71, followed by Nayatel with 56.31, placing them firmly among the best-performing internet providers nationwide. Cybernet and Connect Communications completed the top five, reflecting steady growth in fiber-optic services.
The report also noted a significant gap between fiber and non-fiber services. PTCL’s regular (non-fiber) connections recorded a much lower score of 41.59, showing how traditional connections lag behind modern infrastructure.
City-Wise Rankings
When analyzing internet performance across major Pakistani cities, Islamabad led with the fastest median fixed download speed of 20.36 Mbps. Karachi ranked second, while Rawalpindi secured third place. On the lower side, Faisalabad reported average speeds of just 13.77 Mbps, followed by Multan and Peshawar, reflecting the disparity in connectivity quality across regions.
Regional Performance
The Islamabad Capital Territory recorded the highest regional median fixed speed at 20.21 Mbps, followed by Sindh and Balochistan. In contrast, areas such as FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas), Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa showed the slowest speeds, with FATA averaging only 5.31 Mbps.
Conclusion
The Ookla report makes it clear that fiber broadband is reshaping Pakistan’s internet landscape, with PTCL Flash Fiber, Transworld, and Nayatel setting new benchmarks. However, the divide between top-tier cities and underserved regions underscores the urgent need for broader infrastructure upgrades to ensure reliable connectivity nationwide.
