No Helldivers 3 Planned as Arrowhead Focuses on Helldivers 2

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani recently confirmed the studio has no plans to develop Helldivers 3, choosing instead to extend support for Helldivers 2 with long-term updates and live-service content. While the decision disappoints players hoping for a brand-new sequel, it signals sustained investment in the current title and a focus on stability, performance, and fresh content.
Helldivers 2 launched in 2024 for PlayStation and PC and reached wider audiences with an Xbox release in 2025. The Xbox arrival boosted concurrent player numbers and renewed interest in the cooperative shooter. Rather than shifting resources into a sequel, Arrowhead prefers to evolve the existing game into a “forever” experience, comparing its ambitions to enduring live-service titles that add content over many years.
Recent development activity supports that plan. September 2025 saw multiple patches and a major update named Into the Unjust, which introduced Hive Worlds, new mission types, and additional enemy factions. Minor hotfixes followed to address immediate issues. Arrowhead also appears to be exploring customization options, with leaks indicating future color customisation for ships, armor, and weapons; these reports remain unconfirmed.
Technically, Helldivers 2 faces challenges. PC players have reported stuttering and stability problems that affected reviews during recent months. Arrowhead acknowledges those issues and has prioritized performance fixes alongside new features. Community feedback continues to guide patch priorities and content roadmaps, suggesting developers will remain responsive.
By committing to ongoing updates rather than immediately greenlighting a sequel, Arrowhead aims to build long-term player trust and deliver a richer Helldivers ecosystem. The studio’s approach trades the buzz of a brand-new numbered entry for sustained improvements, events, and expansions that can keep the player base engaged. For now, fans can expect steady support for Helldivers 2 and a roadmap shaped by technical fixes, new content, and player-driven priorities for years.
