Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed: Japan Finally Becomes the Next Horizon Destination

Playground Games has officially announced Forza Horizon 6, confirming that the next entry in the beloved open-world racing series will finally take players to Japan. Launching in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass, the highly anticipated title will also mark the first time a Forza Horizon game arrives on PlayStation 5, thanks to support from Turn 10 Studios.
Fans have been asking for a Japan setting since the franchise began, and art director Don Arceta explained why the country is the perfect fit: “Japan has such a unique culture—from cars, to music, to fashion—that makes it perfect for the next Horizon setting.” A teaser video showcased iconic landscapes such as Mt. Fuji framed by cherry blossoms, giving players a first glimpse of what’s ahead.
The map will feature a variety of blended locales, including a detailed recreation of Tokyo City, serene rural countryside, and winding mountain roads designed for drifting. Dynamic seasons will return, changing how players experience environments, races, and exploration. Arceta promised that “players will be blown away by the open world of Japan we have built.”
Playground Games clarified that the world will not be a one-to-one replica of Japan but instead a stylized representation that captures its cultural essence. To ensure authenticity, the studio worked with cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita, who emphasized the importance of balancing recognition and creativity. “For locals and people who know Japan well, my hope is recognition: ‘Yes, that’s how it flows.’”
While the car list has not yet been revealed, fans can expect a strong lineup of Kei cars, drift icons, and classic Japanese racing machines, alongside Horizon’s usual extensive garage.
With its long-requested Japan setting, diverse car roster, and next-gen upgrades, Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most exciting entries yet.
