Property Transactions Jump 50% in July 2026 Tax Collection Rises

Property Transactions Jump 50% in July 2026 Tax Collection Rises

Property transactions jump sharply in July 2026. The real estate market showed strong activity across the country. Around 90,000 deals took place during the month. In comparison, only 60,000 transactions were recorded in July 2025. Therefore, this marks a 50% increase. This rise reflects growing interest in buying and selling property. In addition, investors seem more confident at the start of the fiscal year.

Tax Collection Also Increases

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected higher taxes during this period. It received Rs44 billion from salaried individuals in July 2026. Last year, the same group paid Rs42 billion. As a result, there was an increase of Rs2 billion in one year. Meanwhile, the FBR also collected Rs15.5 billion in advance tax on property deals. These taxes came under Sections 236C and 236K. Therefore, the rise in transactions directly boosted revenue. However, many people have raised concerns about the growing tax burden. Salaried individuals feel they are paying more than their fair share. Critics argue that the system puts pressure on middle income groups. In contrast, wealthier segments often avoid proper taxation. As a result, public frustration continues to grow. Many citizens now demand a fair and balanced tax system.

Criticism from Political Leaders

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also criticized the FBR. He questioned the benefits given to tax officials. According to him, officials receive luxury vehicles and free fuel. However, authorities fail to collect enough taxes from large landowners. He also highlighted the government’s revenue measures. The state collected Rs1.9 trillion in levies within one year. Therefore, he believes ordinary citizens carry most of the burden. “The government raises levy prices as if it owns the country,” he said. His remarks reflect wider public concern. The surge in activity shows strong market momentum. However, tax concerns may affect future growth. If authorities address these issues, confidence could improve further. In addition, balanced policies may support both investors and citizens.
