E Pension Portal: Govt Digitises Pension Services for Employees
The government has launched the E Pension Portal with Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR). The new system aims to make pension services faster and easier for government employees. It will also reduce paperwork and repeated visits to government offices. The portal aims to process pension cases within days instead of months. Employees and pensioners can also track their cases online. This change can save time and reduce delays during retirement.
Online pension services bring faster processing
The new system allows the government to transfer pensions directly into commercial bank accounts. Pensioners will no longer need to rely only on designated National Bank branches. The portal will also send SMS alerts to registered mobile numbers. Users will receive notifications when officials release a pension or make a deduction.
Departments can upload employees’ information before their retirement. This step can help officials prepare pension cases in advance. As a result, employees may receive their pension benefits more quickly. The government has also introduced biometric verification for pensioners. Pensioners can verify their identity through fingerprint authentication at bank branches or biometric-enabled ATMs.
They must complete this verification every six months. This process replaces the need to submit a Life Certificate at a bank twice each year.
Registration requires employee data
The government is also developing mobile applications for pension verification. These apps may allow pensioners to verify themselves from home. Officials may use facial or fingerprint recognition through mobile phone cameras. However, pensioners must complete verification within the required period. Otherwise, officials may temporarily block the pension account. They can restore the account after successful biometric verification.
Employees must first ask their departments to upload their information. The required details include a Computerized National Identity Card, personal number and active mobile number. After completing data entry, the employee receives a unique Pension ID. Employees can use this ID to access pension services and track their cases online. The new system aims to create a simpler and more transparent pension process. It can also reduce paperwork and improve access for government employees and pensioners.
