Possessor(s) Launches on November 11th for PS5 and PC

Developer Heart Machine has officially confirmed that its next title, Possessor(s), will release on November 11th, 2025, for both PS5 and PC. Known for its acclaimed titles Hyper Light Drifter and the in-progress Hyper Light Breaker, Heart Machine has earned a reputation for blending stylish visuals, challenging gameplay, and heartfelt storytelling. With Possessor(s), the studio is pushing into new creative territory.
The story takes place in a near-future world rocked by an interdimensional catastrophe. Players step into the role of Luca, who reluctantly forms a pact with Rhem, an otherworldly entity. The disaster was triggered when Rhem’s energy was siphoned by the powerful Agradyne Corporation, and survival now depends on this uneasy alliance. As the world teeters on collapse, players must navigate surreal environments that reflect both science fiction and nightmare logic.
While the game is described as a side-scrolling action title, it breaks genre conventions with its arsenal. Instead of traditional swords and guns, players can wield unconventional weapons such as guitars, sunglasses, and even a computer mouse. Combat borrows from Super Smash Bros., with directional inputs, juggling mechanics, and combos that encourage creativity and mastery.
Movement is also central to gameplay. Luca can grapple across areas, wall-run, smash through floors, and chain acrobatic maneuvers, giving players multiple ways to traverse levels. This fluid mobility not only makes combat dynamic but also encourages exploration across expansive stages.
Heart Machine’s art direction further distinguishes Possessor(s). The trailer showcases handcrafted environments, bold color palettes, and eerie visual design, all paired with a haunting soundtrack. These elements combine to create a world that is unsettling yet beautiful, capturing the studio’s signature style.
As one of 2025’s most anticipated indie releases, Possessor(s) is shaping up to be a bold experiment that blends platforming, surreal combat, and narrative depth. Fans of stylish action games and unique storytelling will want to mark November 11th on their calendars.
