FO: All 24 Pakistanis Evacuated Safely From Yemen Tanker Fire

The Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Saturday that 24 Pakistani nationals aboard a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker, which caught fire off the coast of Yemen, are safe and making their way out of Yemeni waters. Officials said all crew members had been evacuated from immediate danger and were receiving assistance.
According to the FO, the incident occurred when a fire broke out onboard the LPG carrier while it was sailing in international waters near Yemen. Local authorities and maritime safety agencies responded promptly to the emergency, ensuring that no Pakistani crew member suffered injury or harm.
The safety of our citizens is our foremost priority. We are relieved to inform that all 24 Pakistani nationals are safe and sound,” the FO spokesperson said in an official statement. The crew is currently en route to a secure location outside Yemeni waters, where further arrangements for their return are being coordinated.
The FO said it was in constant contact with the shipping company as well as relevant maritime authorities to monitor the situation. Pakistani embassies in the region have also been directed to extend full support to the affected nationals until they reach home safely.
Officials noted that fires and accidents on oil and gas tankers pose significant risks to crew members due to the highly flammable nature of the cargo. In recent years, such incidents have raised concerns about maritime safety, especially in conflict-prone regions such as the Gulf of Aden and waters near Yemen.
The FO reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Pakistani nationals working abroad, particularly seafarers and workers in high-risk environments. It assured families of the affected crew that the government would continue to provide timely updates and necessary assistance until the situation is fully resolved.
