AI Robots Build Solar Farm Faster in Victoria

In Victoria, Australia, technology is changing how solar farms are built. AI-powered robots from US-based Luminous Robotics have installed nearly 500,000 panels at ENGIE’s Goorambat East Solar Farm. This massive project has already reached its installation milestone ahead of schedule.
The solar farm, located near Benalla, completed its panel setup by October 3, 2025. The achievement highlights how automation and renewable energy can work together to shape a greener future.

Smarter Construction with AI

The robots, called the LUMI fleet, use advanced pick-and-place technology. They can lift and position solar panels onto racks with precision. Human crews then step in to secure the panels safely.
This partnership between robots and people cuts down on heavy manual labor. As a result, it reduces risks, improves safety, and speeds up the building process. In addition, efficiency increases as fewer delays happen during installation.

Clean Energy for Thousands of Homes

Commissioning has already started. The first energization is expected by the end of October 2025. By mid-2026, the farm will be fully operational.
Once complete, the solar farm will generate enough electricity to power about 105,000 Victorian homes. That means thousands of families will benefit from clean and reliable energy. This project shows how AI can support renewable energy at scale. It also proves that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.
