Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan: US Envoys Join Israel-Hamas Talks in Egypt

High-level talks to end the war in Gaza are continuing in Egypt. Top US envoys and regional figures are taking part in the third day of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas. The discussions focus on President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan aimed at stopping the violence and securing a long-term truce.

Key Figures Gather in Sharm el-Sheikh

US businessman Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday. They were joined by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Turkey’s intelligence chief.
Officials described the meeting as a critical moment that could determine whether progress can be achieved.
A senior Hamas official told the BBC that the group had shown “necessary positivity” during the negotiations. He added that Hamas had submitted a list of Palestinian prisoners it wanted Israel to release in exchange for hostages held in Gaza.

Cautious Optimism Over Peace Progress

Israeli media quoted officials who expressed “cautious optimism” about the ongoing talks. However, analysts say both sides still face major challenges before any deal can be finalized.
The Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh has hosted several peace efforts in the past. Therefore, many see this as a symbolic and strategic venue for dialogue.
Observers believe that if the talks succeed, it could mark a turning point in one of the region’s most devastating conflicts.
