Sindh Reports 175 Dengue Cases, Karachi Records Highest Numbers
The Sindh Health Department has released a new report detailing confirmed dengue cases across the province. Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho said that a total of 175 dengue cases have been reported this month. Karachi remains the most affected city, with 85 cases, followed by Hyderabad with 48, Mirpurkhas with 37, and Sukkur with 5.
According to Dr. Pechuho, since the beginning of 2025, the total number of dengue cases in Sindh has reached 819, including one reported death. She emphasized that the provincial government is making every effort to prevent the further spread of the virus. Health teams are working actively in all divisions to control mosquito breeding and ensure proper sanitation measures.
Government Steps Up Anti-Dengue Drive
The Sindh government has intensified its anti-dengue campaign across the province, especially in Karachi, where most cases have been recorded. Health officials are conducting fumigation and awareness drives in residential and high-risk areas. In addition, hospitals have received special instructions to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment of patients showing dengue symptoms such as fever, headache, and body pain.
Dr. Pechuho stated that the health department is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to track new cases daily. She added that preventing mosquito breeding is key to controlling the outbreak. Therefore, the government is focusing on both public awareness and community participation.
Public Urged to Help Stop the Spread
Health officials have appealed to the public to stay vigilant and adopt preventive habits at home. People should cover water containers, avoid letting water collect in pots or tires, and keep their surroundings clean. They stressed that dengue is a preventable disease. If citizens take these precautions, the spread can be stopped effectively, protecting communities from further outbreaks.
