Azerbaijan & Uzbekistan Launch Joint Silk Road Highlights Tour

Azerbaijan & Uzbekistan Launch Joint Silk Road Highlights Tour

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on tourism. The aim is to promote joint Silk Road Tours, combining cultural heritage across both nations. Officials emphasize the shared history of the Silk Road and want to showcase it as a unified travel product.
They plan to develop authentic tour packages featuring cities like Baku, Shamakhi, Sheki in Azerbaijan and Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand in Uzbekistan. In addition, they will conduct joint research and strengthen tourism education.

Europe Roadshows to Raise Awareness

The campaign includes B2B roadshows in several major European capitals. Key cities involved include Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Prague, Budapest, and Barcelona. These events will run in mid-October and involve trade representatives, national airlines, hotel chains, and destination management companies.
Through these roadshows, the tourism boards hopes to engage European tour operators and media. They also plan supporting media campaigns, webinars, and forming a Silk Road Tourism Expert Club. This club will share expertise and help co-create future offerings.

A Unified Brand and Long-Term Vision

The cooperation aims to build a unified brand around the Silk Road Highlights Tour. The countries intend to position themselves as a connected destination rather than two separate ones. As part of this vision, they will offer meaningful travel products that span both nations.
Termed a model for regional cooperation, this initiative seeks to attract travelers interested in rich cultural experiences. It also signals new tourism dynamics in Central Asia, especially in markets like Central Europe.
