US Governors Deploy National Guard Ahead of ‘No Kings’ Anti-Trump Protests
Several Republican governors in the United States have placed National Guard troops on standby. The move comes ahead of large-scale No Kings protests planned across the country. Organisers say these demonstrations aim to challenge Donald Trump’s leadership and policies.
National Guard on Alert for ‘No Kings’ Protests
The No Kings movement claims protests will occur at more than 2,500 locations nationwide. However, Trump’s allies accuse organisers of being connected to far-left Antifa groups, a claim protest leaders strongly deny.
Governors in Texas and Virginia have already activated their National Guard units. It remains unclear how visible the military presence will be during the demonstrations. Still, officials insist their focus is on maintaining safety and preventing unrest.
Protest Organisers Expect Massive Turnout
According to organisers, the upcoming No Kings protests could attract millions of participants. During the last event held in June, more than five million people reportedly joined rallies across the country.
Protesters say they are standing up for democracy and against what they view as Trump’s authoritarian approach. In addition, they call for equal rights, fair elections, and political accountability.
Authorities, however, remain cautious. They have warned against any acts of violence and urged demonstrators to remain peaceful. Therefore, both law enforcement and the National Guard are preparing for what could become one of the largest nationwide protests in recent years.
As tensions rise, all eyes are now on how these No Kings protests will unfold and whether calm can prevail amid political division.
