PCB Responds to Afghanistan Exit from T20 Tri-Series | New Plans in Motion
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially reacted after Afghanistan’s withdrawal from the upcoming T20 tri-series in Pakistan. The event was planned to feature Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and serve as preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
In its statement, the PCB expressed disappointment over the decision. However, it also recognized the challenges faced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Reports suggest the ACB withdrew due to tight scheduling, travel issues, and player workload concerns.
A PCB spokesperson confirmed that relations between the two boards remain positive. “We respect Afghanistan’s choice and understand their situation,” the spokesperson said. “Therefore, we’re exploring new plans to ensure our team’s preparation continues smoothly.”
PCB Plans Next Steps
The PCB has begun discussions with several cricket boards to find a replacement team for the tri-series. In addition, officials are considering hosting a bilateral T20 series or intra-squad matches to keep players ready for future competitions.
According to PCB sources, the board is confident about finalizing the new schedule soon. The coaching staff and selectors have already adjusted training sessions to maintain team rhythm. As a result, Pakistan’s preparations are expected to continue without major disruption.
Despite the setback, the PCB emphasized its strong ties with the ACB. Both boards plan to collaborate again in upcoming seasons. The PCB’s quick and professional response has earned praise from many fans, who believe the board’s proactive approach will keep Pakistan’s cricket momentum alive heading into 2025.
