16,000 Rotten Chicken Eggs Seized in Karachi’s Qayyumabad

Health officials in Karachi have uncovered a disturbing case involving rotten chicken eggs being sold to local businesses. According to initial reports, around 16,000 expired eggs were found in 46 cartons stored in the Qayyumabad area. Authorities said the eggs had passed their expiry date but were still being sold to bakers and grocery stores across the city.

Expired Eggs Sold to Bakeries and Shops

Investigators revealed that the supplier had already distributed many of the spoiled eggs before the raid. Several bakeries reportedly used them to make cakes, pastries, and bread. These products were then sold to unsuspecting customers. As a result, officials fear a potential public health risk.
Food safety teams immediately seized the remaining cartons and launched an inquiry to identify those involved. They also began inspecting nearby storage units and shops. Health authorities have warned all bakeries and grocery stores to check their stock and ensure that no expired eggs are used in food production.
