Anchor Underwater Survival Game Announced for PC
Fearem has announced Anchor, an ambitious underwater survival crafting game for PC. The persistent online open-world title supports over 150 players per server in a post-nuclear oceanic setting. Players become genetically engineered aquatic humans surviving in modified ocean regions called Anchors.
The game’s premise involves humanity adapting to ocean life after nuclear holocaust forced evacuation from surface worlds. Players build, defend, and fight for underwater homes while navigating dangerous ecosystems and other survivors. The persistent servers continue evolving even when players are offline, creating constant vulnerability.
Massive Multiplayer Scale
Anchor’s 16km² open-world map features diverse biomes including rocky, coral, and arctic areas. The custom networking technology leverages Fearem’s decade of multiplayer development experience. This infrastructure supports the ambitious player count while maintaining world persistence.
Sharks serve as apex predators with sophisticated hunting and feeding behaviors. Attracted by blood and scavenging opportunities, they present constant threats to players. The predator system adds environmental danger alongside PvP conflicts and clone remnants from old civilizations.
Flexible Gameplay Options
While designed for large-scale multiplayer, Anchor includes solo and co-op sandbox modes without PvP threats. These alternatives maintain resource scarcity and NPC combat while offering less competitive experiences. The flexibility accommodates different playstyle preferences.
Advanced crafting enables creation of primitive and advanced tools, weapons, and base structures. Players process ores, metals, and shells to develop equipment ranging from Obsidian Knives to Hydro Cannons and Hydro Precision Rifles. The comprehensive system supports both survival and combat needs.
