Egypt Opens Grand Egyptian Museum Near Giza’s Great Pyramid
Near the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza, a landmark has been inaugurated as a symbol of Egypt’s modern heritage. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been officially opened and is being celebrated worldwide.
A New Cultural Era for Egypt
The museum is being described as the world’s largest archaeological collection. Around 100,000 artefacts have been displayed, representing more than seven millennia of Egyptian history from pre-dynastic to Roman eras.
Tutankhamun’s Treasures and Global Significance
The entire tomb collection of the boy king Tutankhamun has been presented together for the first time since its discovery by Howard Carter. His golden mask, royal throne, and chariots are being exhibited as major attractions.
The establishment of the museum has been viewed as a symbol of Egypt’s cultural revival. Prominent Egyptologists have said that calls are being strengthened for the return of artefacts held abroad. Among these is the Rosetta Stone, which continues to be displayed at the British Museum.
As a result, the Grand Egyptian Museum has been regarded as both a monument to history and a statement of national pride. Millions of visitors are expected to be drawn each year, turning Giza into an even greater global attraction.
