Russia Confirms Test of Nuclear-Powered Burevestnik Missile

A test of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile has been confirmed by Moscow’s military leaders. The confirmation was given during a televised meeting between Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov and President Vladimir Putin.

Russia’s Burevestnik Missile Test Confirmed

It was reported that the missile had completed a multi-hour flight covering 14,000 km (8,700 miles). Officials stated that this distance was “not the limit” of its range.
The missile had been introduced in 2018 as part of Russia’s advanced weapon systems. It has been described as a nuclear-powered, low-flying weapon built for long-range missions.

Unlimited Range and Global Concerns

A potentially unlimited range has been claimed for the Burevestnik. The ability to evade modern defense systems has been said to be among its features. According to Russian officials, a major technological breakthrough has been achieved.
However, Western experts have expressed doubts regarding the weapon’s effectiveness and safety. Concerns have been raised over the lack of verified data about its performance. Analysts have pointed out that the missile’s true capability has not yet been proven publicly.
As a result, international concerns have been heightened. The test has been viewed as a sign of growing nuclear competition that could renew global arms race tensions.
