PIA Flight from Lahore to Jeddah Makes Emergency Landing After Bird Strike

A PIA flight from Lahore to Jeddah made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Thursday. The plane faced trouble soon after takeoff when a bird struck the cockpit windshield. The pilot acted quickly and diverted the aircraft to Karachi. All 344 passengers, including Umrah pilgrims, remained safe.

Pilot’s Quick Action Saves Passengers

Flight PK-859 experienced the bird strike only minutes into its journey. The collision caused serious cracks in the cockpit windshield, creating an emergency situation. The captain stayed calm, followed safety procedures, and guided the aircraft to a smooth landing in Karachi.
Airport officials praised the pilot and crew for their professionalism. Their timely response prevented panic and ensured a safe outcome. In addition, passengers appreciated the airline’s quick communication and support during the incident.

PIA Teams Begin Repairs

After the landing, PIA staff moved passengers to nearby hotels for rest and assistance. Technical experts immediately started inspecting the aircraft. They confirmed the bird caused visible damage to the cockpit area, which now requires urgent repair.
According to PIA sources, the inspection and maintenance work may take up to 12 hours. Engineers are checking every system before the plane resumes its flight to Jeddah. The final clearance will come from aviation authorities once all safety tests are complete.
PIA thanked travelers for their patience and cooperation. The airline reaffirmed its strong focus on safety and passenger care. The flight is expected to continue to Jeddah later tonight once repairs finish.
