A New Era of Proactive Healthcare in Punjab

Punjab has launched a landmark initiative to transform its healthcare system. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled the province’s first-ever Community Health Inspectors Programme. The program aims to deliver essential services directly to every household.
This proactive strategy moves care from hospitals into communities. The goal is to enable the timely diagnosis and prevention of diseases. Therefore, it represents a major shift towards preventive and accessible public health.

Deploying a 25,000-Strong Frontline Health Force

The program will mobilize a vast new workforce. A total of 25,000 Community Health Inspectors will be deployed across Punjab. They will visit homes to identify illnesses and provide basic treatment.
These inspectors are trained to perform vital checks. They can test blood sugar, conduct basic diagnostics, and administer injections. A digital health profile will also be created for each household they visit.

Empowering Women and Creating Economic Opportunity

Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the program’s empowering nature. She stated that the “daughters of Punjab will change the destiny of the province.” The initiative has provided significant employment, with each inspector earning a monthly salary.
The role is framed not just as a job, but as a service mission. Inspectors are tasked with gaining community trust and providing compassionate care. Respect for these frontline workers was highlighted as a collective public responsibility.

A Ceremony of Celebration and Commitment

The launch ceremony was a grand spectacle of commitment. It was held at the Punjab Hockey Stadium with 55,000 inspectors in attendance. The event featured a march-past, band music, and fireworks.
This public display underscored the government’s dedication to the program. Officials called it a practical step towards modern healthcare for all. It marks a firm belief in proactive, people-centered governance.
