Air China & Webus Bring Crypto Payments to Global Travel

XRP is edging closer to mainstream adoption as Webus International teams up with Air China to integrate cryptocurrency into global travel payments. The partnership aims to make transactions faster, cheaper, and more accessible, with a particular focus on Air China’s PhoenixMiles loyalty program, which already counts more than 60 million members.

By leveraging blockchain, XRP payments promise transaction speeds under 10 seconds and significant cost savings for airlines and passengers alike. The collaboration is expected to extend beyond airline tickets to hotels, duty-free shops, and other travel services, shaping a comprehensive blockchain-powered ecosystem.

Yet, the road is not without hurdles. XRP continues to battle regulatory uncertainty, especially in the U.S., where the SEC’s lawsuit questions whether it should be classified as a security. Globally, countries like Japan have welcomed XRP, while others remain cautious, complicating compliance for international travel operators. Strict AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) standards also demand careful adherence.
