Alektra Metro Debate Grows Over EV Price and Use
The Alberta Metro debate continues to grow as Pakistan’s newest EV enters the market. The compact electric vehicle has sparked mixed reactions among potential buyers. Some people are excited, while others remain unsure about its real value.
The company offers several variants. Prices range from Rs1,095,000 for the 2-door 7.2 kWh option to Rs1,395,000 for the 4-door 12.96 kWh model. The driving range stretches between 80 and 180 km, depending on the battery capacity.
Many users welcomed the launch. They feel the Metro brings an affordable and eco friendly option to the local market. However, critics argue that the cost seems high for a small vehicle with limited speed and power. One user even compared it to a rickshaw, saying the price does not match its modest performance.
Practical Concerns
Some people also raised concerns about battery strength. They compared the Metro to existing 1,200-watt electric bikes and questioned its ability to carry heavier loads. In addition, they worried about acceleration and seating space. However, a few buyers noted that after sales service could make the Metro a smarter choice, especially when spare parts for small EVs are often hard to find.
Opinions remain divided. For example, Hamza Saeed, a 28 year old software professional from Lahore, said the range does not suit long daily travel. His commute often crosses 90 km, which makes him hesitant. He said that for Rs1–1.4 million, he would choose a used Cultus, Honda City, or Baleno instead. These cars offer higher speeds without the stress of running out of battery.
On the other hand, real estate agent Haroon Akram, 32, sees clear value in the Metro. He believes the EV works well for short trips to markets, schools, and nearby offices. He also likes its compact design, which makes parking easy in crowded areas. For him, the Metro offers a practical and budget friendly option for short distances.
The Alektra Metro enters a unique space in Pakistan’s auto market. Traditional cars in the same price bracket offer more speed, but they are not electric or environmentally friendly. Therefore, the Metro’s success will depend on real-world performance and strong after sales support. The coming months will reveal how local buyers respond to this new EV.
