Angola to Host Global Tourism Forum Investment Summit in Luanda

Angola to Host Global Tourism Forum Investment Summit in Luanda

Angola is set to host a major investment gathering this June. The Global Tourism Forum (GTF) Investment Summit will take place in Luanda. The event runs from June 17 to 19, 2026. It will bring together global investors, policymakers, and industry leaders.
More than 1,000 high-level participants are expected. These include sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors. Tourism authorities, ministers, and global business executives will also attend. Panel discussions and closed-door roundtables will shape the agenda. B2B meetings and networking sessions complete the programme.

Building on ITB Berlin Success

The summit builds on Angola’s earlier international visibility. The country served as the official host of ITB Berlin 2026. Angola used that global stage to showcase its ambitions. The goal is to reposition tourism as a key pillar of economic diversification.
The Luanda summit was originally planned for May. Organizers rescheduled it to June due to the Middle East crisis. The new dates also allow for an expanded programme. International participation is expected to be broader as a result.

Tourism as a Catalyst for Growth

The summit agenda recognizes tourism as more than a standalone sector. Discussions will focus on how tourism drives infrastructure development. Cross-border investment and long-term economic growth are also key themes.
Key sectors under discussion include hospitality and aviation. Smart cities, renewable energy, and digital transformation are also on the list. This shows how tourism investment increasingly intersects with wider development strategies.
Bulut Bağcı, President of the World Tourism Forum Institute, highlighted Angola’s potential. “Angola represents one of the most promising investment frontiers not only in Africa but globally,” he said. “Tourism is no longer a standalone sector. It is a catalyst for broader economic transformation.”

Growing International Momentum

Angola’s emergence as a strategic destination is well-timed. Natural resources, expanding infrastructure, and economic reforms drive the momentum. The country is positioning itself as a gateway for international capital.
Recent high-profile visits are reinforcing this trend. Will Smith arrived in Luanda as part of an electric boat racing delegation. The visit coincided with the announcement of the Luanda Grand Prix. This positions the capital on the global nautical sports map. It also highlights the country’s strategy to attract maritime tourism investment.
Julia Kleber, CEO of Kleber Group, noted the convergence of trends. “Angola is emerging as a market where tourism and investment are evolving hand in hand,” she said. The country’s increasing international visibility supports this view.

Public-Private Collaboration

The summit will place strong emphasis on public-private collaboration. Sessions will cover investment models and policy frameworks. Scalable development strategies are also on the agenda. Topics like intra-African connectivity will feature prominently. The rise of the middle class and technology’s role in diversification will also be discussed.
The event reflects a broader shift in Angola’s approach. The country is moving from promotion to implementation. Concrete projects and investment-ready frameworks are now being presented to international partners.
Hosted in Luanda, one of Africa’s fastest-evolving capitals, the GTF Investment Summit is poised to become a key platform for deal-making. Angola is positioning tourism as its “green oil.” The June event represents a critical step in translating ambition into tangible investment outcomes.
