Bangladesh ODI Series Win: Tigers Seal 2–1 Victory Over Pakistan
The Bangladesh ODI series win over Pakistan came after a tense 11-run victory in Mirpur. The third match decided the three-game contest. As a result, the Tigers secured the series 2–1 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan chased a challenging target of 291 runs. However, the batting lineup fell short despite a brilliant effort from Salman Agha. His fighting 106 kept the visitors in the contest until the closing overs.
Pakistan’s innings started on a shaky note. Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat scored just six runs each. Therefore, early pressure quickly built on the middle order.
Debutant Saad Masood offered some resistance with 38 runs. In addition, captain Shaheen Afridi contributed 37 valuable runs. Still, the required momentum remained difficult to maintain.
Salman Agha’s century gave Pakistan real hope. His confident stroke play pushed the chase deep into the innings. However, Bangladesh bowlers held their nerve when it mattered most.
Taskin Ahmed delivered a match-winning performance with four wickets. Importantly, he removed Salman Agha at a crucial stage. Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets and Nahid Rana grabbed two.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted a strong total after choosing to bat. Their openers provided a steady start to the innings. Consequently, the platform allowed the middle order to build a competitive score.
Tanzid Hasan starred with his maiden ODI century. His impressive knock earned him the Player of the Match award. Moreover, Towhid Hridoy added 48 runs while Litton Das scored 41.
Pakistan’s bowlers tried to limit the damage. Haris Rauf picked up three wickets during the innings. In addition, Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed took one wicket each.
Pakistan had earlier bounced back in the second ODI to level the series. That win followed a heavy defeat in the opener. However, the Bangladesh ODI series win ultimately highlighted the hosts’ consistency and competitiveness.
