Cement Prices Rise Across Pakistan Amid Cost Surge

Cement prices in Pakistan have increased slightly this week. The rise comes amid growing costs of fuel, coal, and imported materials.
The average retail price of a 50 kg bag now ranges between Rs 1,340 and Rs 1,440. Prices vary depending on the brand and region.
For example, Pakcem and Maple Leaf Cement top the list, selling between Rs 1,430 and Rs 1,440. DG Khan Cement follows closely at Rs 1,415–1,425. Bestway Cement sells between Rs 1,405 and Rs 1,415, while Fauji Cement stands at Rs 1,395–1,405 per bag.

Steady Demand, Higher Costs

Dealers in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad report stable demand from the construction sector. However, the recent price hike has made builders cautious about bulk purchases.
Analysts say the main cause is rising input costs and the weakening Pakistani rupee. The continued surge in global fuel prices has also pushed production costs higher. As a result, manufacturers are passing part of the burden to consumers.
In addition, imported coal and transportation charges have become more expensive. Industry experts expect these factors to keep prices under pressure in the coming weeks.

Industry Growth Continues

Despite the price increase, Pakistan’s cement sector posted strong growth in the first quarter of FY2025–26. Total shipments rose by 16.25% to 12.161 million tonnes, compared to 10.461 million tonnes a year earlier.
Local sales grew 15% to 9.573 million tonnes. Exports jumped 21%, reaching 2.589 million tonnes. On a yearly basis, total cement dispatches climbed 7% in September 2025 to 4.25 million tonnes.
However, while domestic demand rose 14.38%, exports dropped 15.25%, falling to 831,966 tonnes. Still, the sector remains optimistic about upcoming infrastructure projects and housing demand.
Experts believe further price adjustments are likely if global fuel and freight costs remain volatile.
