Central District Renewal: Mayor Wahab Launches New Karachi Projects

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab launched multiple development works in Block F, North Nazimabad, on Sunday. The Central District renewal includes new roads, a sewerage system, and a storm water drain. The mayor said these projects aim to ease daily hardships and restore public trust.

Development Projects and Timelines

During a media briefing, Wahab said the PPP promised real development for Karachi. He stressed that his administration completes projects instead of placing plaques. According to him, the city now uses public funds responsibly.
He said internal roads in North Nazimabad cost PKR 100 million and are now complete. In addition, the Korangi Ibrahim Hyderi bridge will open by late January 2025. This bridge will improve access to Indus Hospital.
He added that an underpass linking Shahrah-e-Bhutto will finish in February. The design supports heavy traffic and benefits regional transport. The flyover will open by March.

A four-lane flyover near the Export Processing Zone will open by mid-January. Construction at the Mena Bazaar underpass continues and will finish this month.

Governance, Accountability, and Enforcement

Wahab criticized previous administrations for neglecting public welfare. He said they controlled towns but failed to deliver results. However, he said his party focuses on work, not political blame.
He stressed that funding does not limit current projects. Auditors monitor all municipal works closely. Engineers follow strict quality standards for roads and utilities.
The mayor also warned against illegal activities. Authorities will act against unlawful parking, billboards, and encroachments. Any violation found during audits will face legal action.
He added that plans for inner-street upgrades are underway. The administration aims to ensure fair, transparent, and sustainable development for all residents.
