A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in multiple cases. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka announced the extension, maintaining Imran Khan’s bail in six different cases, while Bushra Bibi’s bail in one case was also prolonged until October 7. The court further extended the protection order that bars authorities from arresting Khan in connection with several high-profile cases, including those related to the May 9 riots, attempted murder, and protest demonstrations. During the proceedings, the judge observed that the bail petitions of both Khan and Bibi would be decided jointly after arguments from all sides are completed. The court also heard matters concerning Bushra Bibi’s bail applications. Her interim bail in the Toshakhana case—linked to allegations of fake receipts—was extended, but the judge reserved verdicts on her other bail pleas. Meanwhile, arguments on Imran Khan’s petition remained incomplete and will continue at the next hearing. Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry appeared on behalf of the PTI founder, who faces several cases lodged at various police stations, including Tarnol, Karachi Company, and Kohsar. The court adjourned the matter until October 7, when both Khan and Bibi’s bail applications are expected to be taken up for a consolidated ruling.
