CTD Officer Martyred in Accidental Blast at Peshawar Police Station

CTD Officer Martyred in Accidental Blast at Peshawar Police Station

A tragic incident struck Peshawar on Sunday morning when an explosion hit a CTD police station. The blast killed one Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer and injured two others. Officials said the explosion occurred due to old explosives stored inside the station’s ammunition room.

Accidental Explosion in Ammunition Room

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad confirmed the casualties. He explained that old explosives accidentally detonated inside the ammunition room. As a result, the fire spread and triggered several secondary explosions.
Rescue teams, the Bomb Disposal Unit, and firefighters arrived quickly. They worked to extinguish the fire and secure the area. Police and security forces cordoned off the station to ensure safety and conduct a clearance operation.
According to the initial police report, the blast was accidental and not a terrorist attack. Investigators said the cause appeared similar to last year’s incident in Swabi, where stored ammunition also caught fire and exploded.

Funeral with Full Honors

Later in the day, officials held the funeral prayer for the martyred CTD officer, Bilal Khan, at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. The ceremony took place with full official honors.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, IG Police Zulfiqar Hameed, and senior CTD officers attended the service. Army officers, police officials, and relatives also paid their respects.
A police contingent offered a salute as the coffin was covered in flowers. Attendees prayed for the martyred officer and expressed deep grief over his sacrifice for public safety.
