Datta Khel Incident: Militants Attack Boya Camp in North Waziristan
A major Datta Khel incident unfolded on Friday in North Waziristan when militants attacked the Boya security camp. The attackers opened fire and tried to breach the perimeter. However, security forces responded swiftly and engaged them.
Residents heard a powerful explosion that echoed across the region. People in Miranshah, nearly 25 kilometres away, also heard the blast. As a result, fear spread quickly among nearby communities.
Deadly Assault at Boya Camp
Officials said the militants used an explosives-laden vehicle to start the attack. One bomber rammed the vehicle toward the camp and detonated it. In addition, four armed attackers wearing suicide jackets moved in on foot.
Security forces immediately returned fire and blocked their advance. The intense gun battle continued for nearly three hours. Eventually, troops killed all five attackers, including the car bomber.
Seven security personnel suffered injuries during the clash. Medical teams rushed them to nearby hospitals for treatment. Doctors later confirmed that the injured personnel remain stable.
The explosion caused widespread damage in surrounding areas. It damaged shops, homes, and mosques close to the camp. Several residents also suffered injuries due to debris.
Security Measures and Investigation
Police, security forces, and bomb disposal units quickly cordoned off the area. They launched a clearance and search operation to secure the surroundings. Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 teams provided emergency assistance to the wounded.
Authorities placed the entire district on high alert after the attack. They also temporarily suspended traffic on a key highway as a precaution. Therefore, security patrols increased across sensitive locations.
Although forces neutralized the attackers, the camp remains under inspection. Officials confirmed that clearance operations continue.
Later, the Aswad-ul-Harab Huzaifa suicide squad claimed responsibility. The group operates under the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction. Investigators continue to examine the incident in detail.
