Deadly Northeast Blizzard Kills Two, Breaks Records in Rhode Island

A powerful winter blizzard has struck the northeastern US. Two people died in Maryland during the storm. Flight delays and power outages continue across the region.
The victims died in Calvert County on Sunday afternoon. A falling tree struck their vehicle on a roadway. Michael Simpson, 60, and Virginia Quesenberry, 43, lost their lives. The sheriff’s office confirmed their identities.

Record-Breaking Snowfall

Parts of Maryland saw up to 16 inches of snow. However, Rhode Island experienced historic conditions. Providence recorded 37.9 inches of snowfall. This marks the biggest blizzard in the state’s history.

Ongoing Disruption

Travel bans remain in effect for Rhode Island. Parts of Massachusetts also keep restrictions in place. Schools remain closed as residents dig out.This northeast blizzard kills two and paralyzes major cities. Crews work around the clock to clear roads. Power restoration efforts continue for thousands without electricity.
