DRAP Rejects Medicine Price Hike Claims, Ensures Stable Supply
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has rejected reports of a medicine price hike across the country. Officials described these claims as baseless and misleading. Therefore, people should not worry about sudden increases in costs.
A spokesperson confirmed that prices of insulin and other life saving drugs remain unchanged. In addition, companies cannot raise essential medicine prices on their own. This policy protects patients from unfair pricing practices.
Measures to Ensure Supply
DRAP stated that it continues to monitor the market closely. Moreover, authorities are taking steps to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines. As a result, patients can access treatments without delays.
Pharmaceutical companies must now use multiple sources for raw materials. This step reduces the risk of shortages. For example, local production already covers a large portion of demand.

Earlier, DRAP signed an agreement with the Competition Commission of Pakistan. This move aims to improve coordination between both institutions. Therefore, better oversight of medicine prices is expected.
