Dubai Launches Al Layan Oasis in New Dh4 Billion Desert Tourism Plan

Dubai has announced a major new desert tourism destination. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the Al Layan Oasis project. It is a central part of a Dh4 billion package of green and water-based developments.
The oasis will cover a massive 10 million square feet. It is centered on a lake spanning 2.5 million square feet. The project promises unprecedented desert tourism experiences for visitors.
“Every day in the UAE is an opportunity to write a new story,” Sheikh Mohammed stated. He emphasized the project’s role in creating a better future. It aims to ensure the best quality of life in the world.

A Key Environmental Destination

The project is designed as a balanced eco-tourism destination. It features 14 kilometers of walking and cycling tracks. This includes 4 kilometers of elevated paths five meters above ground for panoramic views.
Plans include expanding native planting and shaded areas. These efforts will enhance visitor comfort and support environmental sustainability. The oasis is expected to attract around 330,000 visitors every year.
It will serve as a key stop along Dubai’s caravan route. Located about 50 minutes from the city center, it offers a calm desert setting. The development includes integrated infrastructure and 1,000 parking spaces.

Four Unified Oasis Zones

Al Layan Oasis is divided into four main experience zones. The Gathering Oasis will have an open-air cinema, amphitheater, and food trucks. The Family Oasis offers 28 rest areas and children’s play zones.
The Camping Oasis includes areas for 100 caravans and a visitor center. The Recreation Oasis provides various activities and retail outlets. All zones operate within a sustainable natural setting.
This initiative supports several key Dubai strategies. It aligns with the Blue and Green Roadmap 2030 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The project aims to balance development with the preservation of natural landscapes.
