Eight Pakistani Athletes Receive Olympic Solidarity Scholarships for LA 2028

Eight athletes from Pakistan are one step closer to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) announced on Friday that these athletes will receive financial support through the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity Programme. Each athlete will get $13,500 per year to help fund their training from September 2025 to August 2028.

Key Recipients

Among the recipients is Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, who remains the only athlete selected from athletics. The National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) saw the highest number of athletes awarded, including Paris 2024 Olympian Kishmala Talat. Talat made history as the first Pakistani woman to qualify directly for the Olympics. She will be joined by Rabia Kabir, Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, Sulaiman Khan, and Imam Haroon.
Other recipients include table tennis player Haiqa Hassan and taekwondo athlete Fateemaah Tuz Zahraa Khawar. These athletes are committed to representing Pakistan on the world stage and are working hard for success in LA 2028.
The POA shared on social media, “These athletes continue to represent Pakistan with dedication, resilience, and excellence.”

Purpose of the Olympic Solidarity Programme

The Olympic Solidarity Programme aims to support National Olympic Committees (NOCs) by funding athlete development programs. The programme particularly targets athletes who face the greatest need for financial assistance.
