Faisalabad Factory Blast Raises Death Toll to 19 in Malikpur Tragedy

Faisalabad Factory Blast Raises Death Toll to 19 in Malikpur Tragedy

At least 19 people lost their lives in a tragic Faisalabad factory blast in the Malikpur area. The explosion injured several others and caused chaos in the neighbourhood early in the morning. Rescue teams believe the blast came from either the factory’s boiler or the chemical cooker. The shockwave destroyed nearby structures and shook the entire locality.

Impact on Nearby Homes

The explosion took place around 6am. As a result, the roofs of six nearby houses collapsed, and eleven more homes suffered serious damage. One family of four died when their roof caved in and trapped them under debris. The victims included children, women, elderly citizens and factory workers.
Locals reacted immediately and started pulling people from the rubble. However, rescue teams took charge soon after and shifted the injured to the hospital. Six people remain in critical condition. In addition, authorities fear more victims may still be trapped.
The death toll later rose to 19 after more bodies were recovered. Families suffered heartbreaking losses, including parents, children and young siblings.

Victims and Investigation

Authorities identified several of the victims. They included 45-year-old Ashiq and his three sons. Another family lost three children. A brother and sister also died, along with women, toddlers and elderly residents. The tragedy affected multiple households in the community.
Officials confirmed that the chemical factory operated illegally in a residential area. The owner, Qaiser, fled after the blast. However, police have launched raids to arrest him. They also detained the factory manager and other administrative staff.
Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir formed an inquiry committee. The team will investigate the cause of the explosion and review safety failures. Search efforts continue as authorities fear more people remain beneath the rubble.
